Inphic just launched the SPOT i7, an Android TV Box featuring Amlogic S905 and VidOn XBMC player. This round device is a natural upgrade of their SPOT i5 (S805). The SPOT i7 should play 4K video 60fps through its HDMI2.0 port. Also bluetooth is present as well as Gigabit Ethernet LAN and AV out. But probably a good update is the presence of 2 standard USB ports that bring us more connectivity than the i5.
Today we are going to show you an unboxing and teardown. Here we go!

Unboxing Inphic SPOT i7
Its box is strong and a little heavy, well protected if you order this box from a China retailer.

We can find AC adapter, IR remote controller, AV Cable, a strong and branded HDMI cable and english-spanish manual inside. Also a USB-Hub “SSK” 4 ports is included but this is a gift from Inphic’s official store at Aliexpress.

Opening SPOT i7
After removed those “silicon legs” we can find 3 screws, they are really easy to be removed by using a simple screwdriver.

Here we can see i7’s motherboard and a metal plate. Let’s proceed to remove two screws more.

At the top of the board we can find an Amlogic S905 SoC with an aluminium heatsink. Two modules DDR3 memory (1GB), a eMMC flash memory for storage (8GB) and AP6212 as WiFi/BT module. SPOT i7 features also Gigabit ethernet LAN. Also a UART port for debug is found there. SPOT i7 antenna is similar than theone mounted on SPOT i5. INPHIC’s logo is silkscreened on the board as this company is designing its own hardware in-house. Also we can read AM_905D

Bottom face, we can see a label with a MAC code.

Connectors panel. This time we have 2 Standard USB ports. One of them can be used to flash a new firmware, but the Spot i7 is going to be upgraded by OTA as Inphic is doing with their i5 (S805). AV out, HDMI2.0, Gigabit Ethernet LAN (RJ45), dual USB, DC power.

We can see some small details as ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) protection on the HDMI port.

Conclusion
Inphic has designed a new device and they are careful with details. It looks like they want to give us better connectivity, so we found 2 standard USB ports, bluetooth and AV out. As far as we know, Inphic is doing a great job by supporting their Spot i5 users and upgrading the system by OTA regularly, then, it is expected a similar procedure for this SPOT i7.
